Absolutely! Equity crowdfunding is not charity, it’s an investment. Investors get to receive dividends as high as 10-20% for their investment.

So for instance if you invest N500 you get a return of between N550 - N600, $1.3 - $1.60usd

If you invest N10,000 - $20.03usd you get a return of between N10,500 and N11,000 $22.9 - $26usd. Furthermore, most film would have incentives attached such as royalties, premiere invites, production credit at the end of the film, product placement, advertisement opportunities, or a combination of the multiple options listed above. Own A Film is prohibited by law from touching your money.

When you invest, your funds are transferred to an escrow account, in custody of our partners over at Afrinvest, a leading independent investment banking firm with a focus on West Africa. If the fundraise reaches at least half of its target, it is considered a success. Your money will be released to the Filmmakers to make the film. If the fundraising efforts fail to raise up to 50% of the target, it will be refunded to you.

There is no cap on the maximum amount you can contribute to a project. However, the least amount you can invest is N500. $1.30.

However, per the SEC regulations, we can only crowdfund a maximum of N50 million per project. The goal is to have a solid project the community is willing to invest in. We are here to help. Set a monetary goal and the amount of time you want to reach it, and tell your campaign's story. A refund is only possible while crowdfunding efforts for the particular project are still ongoing or if the fundraising effort fail to reach 50% of its target. Once a film has met its target, the portal for contributions is closed and a refund is no longer possible.
